Michael Mallon today joins the City of Spring Hill as its new community development director.

Mallon brings extensive experience in community development. He most recently served as the City of Blue Springs’s senior director of city development. Mallon previously worked for the cities of Thornton, Colorado, and Kansas City, Missouri. He received his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Colorado.

Mallon said he’s eager to explore the city’s future growth, development, and planning.

“I’m very excited to learn about a new community, build relationships, and help guide growth and development,” Mallon said. “I want to continue working toward making Spring Hill a great place to live, work, and play.”

Mallon said some of his goals are to enhance residents’ quality of life by:

  • Fostering dialogue between City staff and the development community to bring high-quality projects to the city.
  • Promoting the City near and far to attract new businesses.
  • Providing excellent customer service to residents, businesses, builders, and developers.

Originally from Indianapolis, Mallon said his hobbies outside of work include long-distance running, landscape photography, cooking, and coaching his kids’ sports teams.
