Mayor Joe Berkey issued a proclamation recognizing Arbor Day 2024 in the City of Spring Hill.
Arbor Day is observed each year to celebrate the planting, upkeep and preservation of trees.
The proclamation states that trees reduce topsoil erosion and cut heating and cooling costs by moderating temperature.
The City of Spring Hill has earned the Tree City USA designation for the last 27 years. The Tree City USA programs recognizes that trees contribute to cooler temperatures, cleaner air, higher property values and healthier residents.
Arbor Day was first observed in Nebraska with the planting on more than a million trees.
