Spring Hill has two important transportation projects up for suballocated federal funding, and we need your help! You can show your support for these projects by leaving your comments in the Mid-America Regional Council's Project Application Portal.
• 207th Street from Woodland to Ridgeview: We’re applying for a Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) to make safety improvements and complete upgrades for the road, as well as bicyclists and pedestrians. The reconstruction of 207th Street as an improved collector street 40' wide from the east side of Woodland Road to Ridgeview Road including the intersection at Ridgeview Road. Improvements include new curb and gutter, 5-foot sidewalk on one side of the roadway and a 10-foot trail on the other, street lighting and storm sewers.
• East Streamway Recreational Trail: We’re also applying for Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding to build a streamway trail connecting subdivisions south of 199th to 207th. This project is along a stream corridor east of Ridgeview Road. The project includes construction of approximately 1.2 miles of new 10' recreational trail that will connect to the new 10' trail along 199th Street currently under design. This recreational trail system will provide connection to Spring Hill High School and Activity Complex, Spring Hill District Offices and Education Support Center, and Prairie Ridge Subdivision Neighborhood Park along 199th Street.
Public comments play a critical role in securing funding for these projects. We’ve seen in the past how strong community support can push projects over the funding line. Through October 4, 2024, you can review the project summaries and share your comments. Your input will be shared with key transportation committees as they decide on funding recommendations this fall.
We encourage all Spring Hill residents to participate. Your support could make a big difference in getting these projects funded and improving our community!
