Spring Hill History
A rich tradition of history and folklore
James B. Hovey was the first citizen to settle in the Spring Hill area when he arrived in March of 1857. Since then, the stories of Spring Hill’s growth, triumphs, and challenges have been carefully documented and passed down through generations.
Today, the City of Spring Hill offers students, residents, and visitors access to a rich collection of historical resources. Explore our content and links to discover the unique experiences of Spring Hill’s early settlers. By preserving our roots, we create a stronger foundation for the future.

Spring Hill Historical Society
The Spring Hill Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting, preserving and honoring the legacy of Spring Hill's past. The Historical Society meets at the call of the chair. Meetings usually include guest speakers, artifact presentations, historical music, poetry, letters and discussions.
Meetings are open to the public, and all residents are always invited. Students are encouraged to attend, and the Society suggests that students check with their teachers for possible extra credit for attending meetings.
