Trash and Recycling Services

The City contracts with Waste Management for garbage and recycling collection. Customers are billed monthly through the City for this service, but questions about collections and pick-up requests should be directed to Waste Management.

To start trash service, fill out the utilities application, which is also used to start sewer and water service for City customers. Please note that trash services can start as early as 72 business hours after your application has been received.

The monthly trash rate is $19.17, which includes large item pick up once per month, recycling and yard waste disposal. Senior citizens 65 years of age or older who have trash service in their name receive a discounted rate of $18.17.

Residential Service

Beginning October 1, 2023, weekly trash, recycling and yard waste collection will transition to two pickup days per week.

Households north of 207th Street will have trash, recycling and yard waste pickup on Thursdays, beginning October 5. Households south of 207th Street will have trash, recycling and yard waste pickup remain on Fridays. All items need to be on the curb by 5 a.m. on your collection day.

Delivery of new carts for trash and recycling will begin about October 2nd and will take over a week. Waste Management needs to deliver about 6,000 total bins, so it won’t happen in a day. Customers will not be charged for the carts. Customers who were previously charged for cart rental will no longer be charged starting October 2023.

Waste Management will pick up any amount of recycling. Use the cart provided by Waste Management for recyclables. Recyclables in trash bags are not accepted. Yard waste will be picked up on most regular trash days. View the 2023 calendar for yard waste pickup.

Waste Management will not collect oil, car batteries, liquefied paint, gasoline, tires, steel pipe, rock, concrete, or construction material. Information on the disposal of hazardous waste is available.

What day will my trash be picked up?

Households north of 207th Street will have trash, recycling and yard waste pickup on Thursdays, beginning October 5. Households south of 207th Street will have trash, recycling and yard waste pickup remain on Fridays.

All items need to be on the curb by 5 a.m. on your collection day.

When am I getting my carts?

Delivery of new carts for trash and recycling will begin about October 2nd and will take over a week. Waste Management needs to deliver about 6,000 total bins, so it won’t happen in a day. Even if you have not received your bins by October 5, homes north of 207th will still have Thursday pickup.

Do I have to use the new carts?

Yes. Utilizing the carts is mandatory as they work with the new automated trucks. The 95 gallon trash cart is the weekly household limit. Any trash over the 95 gallon limit should be bagged and have a prepaid sticker on it. Recycling carts should be used strictly for recyclable materials and not for trash, yard waste or hazardous waste.

Will I be charged for the new carts?

No. Customers who were previously paying a monthly fee to rent carts will no longer be charged for the carts beginning in October.

Will Notify Me alerts automatically switch days?

No. Notify Me does not have your address information. If you live north of 207th St, unsubscribe from Friday collection reminders and subscribe to Thursday collection reminders on Notify Me. The messages are sent the day before collection to remind households to have items on the curb. Click here to subscribe to reminders for Thursday pickup or Friday pickup.

What is the weekly limit for trash?

Trash is limited to three bags, three cans (both a maximum of 30 gallons); or any 95 gallon cart. Trash in excess of these amounts should be placed in a bag with a pre-paid sticker attached. Stickers are available in sheets of 10 for $15 at City Hall or at Price Chopper customer service, 22350 S. Harrison St.
