[ARCHIVED] Nov. 15: Mask order continues in Johnson County

Coronavirus update square

Nov. 15

On Friday, Nov. 13 the Kansas State Finance Council met to consider a request of the Recovery Office to approve reallocations from the Coronavirus Relief Fund and a request of the Governor to extend the state of disaster declaration to Dec. 15.

Because the disaster declaration extension was approved, it will also extend several other orders, including the Governor's mask order that Johnson County is currently under. The order will remain in effect unless rescinded by the Governor or the Board of County Commissioners vote to opt out of the mask order. Remember, this impacts the entire Spring Hill city limits in both Johnson and Miami Counties.

Nov. 13

From Johnson County: A special meeting of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners was held today, Nov. 13, to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic. After nearly six hours of discussion about the high levels of virus transmission in the community and the impact on schools and hospitals, the BOCC, sitting as the Board of Public Health issued an emergency public health order to slow the spread of the virus. The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16. This will impact the entirety of the Spring Hill city limits including the Miami County side. Per agreements between Johnson County and Miami County related to emergency management, all of Spring Hill follows Johnson County orders and directives.
