Residents will no longer be required to register their pets with the City.
The City Council approved repealing the dog and cat registration and fee at its Nov. 12 regular meeting. Residents will not be required to register their dogs or cats with the City, starting Jan. 1, 2021.
However, your pets are still required to have a current rabies vaccination. The City also still has a two dog limit with a permit required to have a third dog. To obtain a third dog permit, download an application on our website and contact the City Clerk at (913) 592-3664 or by visiting us at City Hall, 401 N. Madison St.
This issue was brought forward by Mayor Steven Ellis earlier this year and then again at the Oct. 22 meeting, where it was the consensus of the City Council to remove the licensing fee.
Pet owners: Please remember, Spring Hill does have a leash law. All dogs must be on a leash when outside unless they are inside your fence or on a secure tie out. Most lost dogs are taken to Kerry's Kennel, 22367 W. 215th St., Spring Hill, where you will need to pay a fine to reclaim your dog.
