The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners approved a new public health order, which will go into effect Monday, Nov. 16. 

This will impact the entirety of the Spring Hill city limits including the Miami County side. Per agreements between Johnson County and Miami County related to emergency management, all of Spring Hill follows Johnson County orders and directives.

Overall, this order has provisions about the types of public spaces that will require 6 feet of physical distancing and limits public mass gathering to 50 people or 50 percent of capacity allowed by a building’s fire codes (whichever is less). The order prohibits certain types of large-scale events and contains provisions for restaurants and bars, recreational and youth organized sports, and fitness centers/health clubs. The order will be in effect through 11:59 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, unless it is amended, revoked or replaced.

The Kansas State Finance Council also met Friday, Nov. 13 to extend the state of disaster declaration to Dec. 15. Because the disaster declaration was approved, it extended other orders including Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly's mask order that Johnson County is currently under. The mask order will remain in effect unless rescinded by the Governor or the Board of County Commissioners vote to opt out of the mask order.
