[ARCHIVED] Governing Body seeking your feedback regarding golf cart ordinance

Three golf carts lined up

Last night, Aug. 27, the Governing Body discussed a draft ordinance to allow golf carts on certain City streets.

In July, the City conducted an informal poll on the City’s social media accounts to consider the ideas allowing golf carts to drive certain streets throughout the City. 774 people responded to the poll of which 74 percent were in favor of allowing golf carts on certain City streets. Of those who voted in favor of golf carts, the most important factors to consider were licensed drivers only and insurance required on the golf carts.

The Governing Body chose to focus on whether to allow golf carts only for now with the potential to allow Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) in the future.

The Governing Body is seeking your feedback on the draft ordinance and is set to discuss the item again at the first meeting in September, slated for Sept. 10, with possible action at the following meeting Sept. 24. Please email your comments to publicaffairs@springhillks.gov before Sept. 8. Comments below will be shared with the Governing Body as well.
