[ARCHIVED] Water, wastewater rates adjusted for 2021

Press release graphic social media

Residents will see a slight adjustment in their water and wastewater rates beginning with the January 2021 utility bill, which covers Dec. 15 through Jan. 15 usage.

The Spring Hill Water District — which includes about 2/3 of all households in Spring Hill — water rate will increase 25 cents to $8.80 per 1,000 gallons. The monthly service charge will also increase from $12.94 from $13.33.

The wastewater rate for those in the Spring Hill city limits will also increase from $17 to $17.43 for the first 2,000 gallons and from $8.65 to $8.87 for each additional 1,000 gallons for a total increase of 65 cents. The service charge will remain at $5. Use for wastewater is billed as an amount for the first 2,000 gallons and then a rate per each 1,000 gallons beyond the first 2,000.

An internal rate study is prepared annually by City staff and presented to the City Council for consideration. The focus of the study is to identify areas of concern, determine whether the fund balances are adequate and to make a recommendation regarding current rates.

The most recent utility rate increase occurred in January 2019. No rate increases were implemented in 2020. Rate changes were approved at the Aug. 13 City Council meeting. You can watch the meeting online at the City’s YouTube channel.
