[ARCHIVED] March 13 update: City services impacted by COVID-19 directives

Coronavirus

A letter from Mayor Steven Ellis:

Fellow Residents,

Like our surrounding communities we, too, have been closely monitoring and working with other units of government in establishing policies and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Johnson County Government has declared a county-wide emergency, which we have posted online.  Though we have no such events scheduled at present, we will keep you updated if any future events may be impacted and remind you that all city services remain available.

For many, though, this can be a time of uncertainty and anxiety.  Worries about what may happen can lead to concerns for some about access to food, healthcare, or other services usually taken for granted.  These concerns can be overwhelming for some in our community, making it more important than ever to keep in touch with our elder neighbors, those who may have mobility concerns, and those neighbors who may be struggling with other issues and need a little extra help.  Our nearly 163-year history is rich with friends and neighbors banding together to help and support one-another … it is the reason why over 7,000 people have chosen to call Spring Hill home.

— Steven Ellis

City of Spring Hill impact

Out of an abundance of caution, we are following the recommendations of Johnson County regarding COVID-19. At this time, we are not accepting new reservations for the Spring Hill Civic Center and the Spring Hill Community Center. Those with existing rentals will be contacted by City staff. We plan to evaluate this matter again in two weeks.

Spring Hill City Hall will NOT close at this time. However, we are encouraging residents to conduct City business in other ways:

If you have any general questions, please call us 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at (913) 592-3664 or email publicaffairs@springhillks.gov
