[ARCHIVED] Are you prepared for the severe weather season?

Storm clouds over treetops

Happy March!

This week — March 2 through March 6 — is Severe Weather Preparedness Week. The monthly storm siren test will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3 rather than the normal first Wednesday of the month, to coincide with the state drill.

With severe weather in our area just last year, make sure you and your family are prepared and know the signs! A couple of easy things you can do right now:

1. Follow the National Weather Service — Kansas City (@nwsKansasCity) on Facebook and Twitter.

2. Sign up for NotifyJoCo, which covers both sides of Spring Hill. https://www.notifyjoco.org/

3. Locate an area in your home, either a basement or interior room on the lowest floor, for your family to seek shelter in case of severe weather.
