We’ve added another new face to our growing staff!
Our newest addition to the Community Development department is Bill Sandy, who stepped into the Building Official role. Previously, the title was held by Dennis Rodgers, who retired from the City.
Bill began his duties with the City in early December and dove headfirst into the position.
“I like being part of all the new projects that are going on in the City,” Bill said. “I hope to be able to help the City continue to grow in a responsible and safe manner.”
Coming from the City of Fairway, Kansas, as its building official, Bill brings about 20 years of building codes knowledge and extensive communication skills.
“I am able to effectively communicate with homeowners, contractors, architects and engineers to be able to produce a quality finished product. Personally, I am reasonably skilled in nearly every aspect of construction and mechanically can make anything work, most times not by choice,” he said with a laugh.
A Kansas City native, Bill also spent time at other municipalities in Kansas including Olathe, Westwood and Prairie Village throughout his career.
In his free time, Bill enjoys playing rock and metal music on his guitar. He also is a Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. Bill is a graduate of the University of Kansas (“Rock Chalk,” he said) and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has two children, Jillian and Ben.
