The Spring Hill Cemetery Board is on a fundraising mission.
The eight-person board is raising money for flags to line the historic cemetery for special events. Each flag is a $75 donation, Larry Sumner, vice president of the board, said.
So far, the board has received 21 donations equaling 21 flags. For Veterans Day, the donated flags flew for the first time. The Spring Hill Ruritan Club dug holes and poured concrete for the flag poles while Boy Scout Troop 3289 helped set up.
The board is still seeking donations for additional flags and volunteers to set up flags for Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7. To donate or volunteer, contact Sumner at (913) 706-5094 or by email at sumner04@embarqmail.com Checks can be made payable to the Spring Hill Cemetery.
