Construction at Veterans Park is set to begin this month!

At the Sept. 26 City Council meeting, the Council approved a contract with Mega Industries to construct Spring Hill’s newest park, which will be financed with funds from the dedicated sales tax initiative.

Veterans Park — situated on the west side of Spring Hill City Lake — will include:

        • A dog park (which will be named Melvin Murry Dog Park);

        • Boat launch;

        • Fishing jetty;

        • Playground;

        • Sidewalks, trails and parking;

        • Restrooms.

Access to the park will be by way of Veterans Lane off West 199th Street. Construction is to be completed by June 2020. Previously, a bid from Vireo was accepted by the City Council in 2017. Vireo designed a park plan, which was passed in the Parks Advisory Board and the Planning Commission before approval by the City Council in early 2018. Staff broke ground on the first phase of the park in 2018, clearing acres of trees and brush for the site.
