All five of our outdoor warning sirens have received upgrades.
In March this year, City Council approved upgrading the siren software and equipment.
The outdoor sirens — which are designed to alert people outside of an impending storm — are now upgraded to a new two-way system, allowing the sirens to communicate with the Johnson County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The upgrade sends a signal back to the EOC, stating whether the siren sounded or not.

The monthly siren test is postponed this month due to the Independence Day holiday. Sirens will be tested Wednesday, July 11.
