Looking for the perfect amount of sun and shade?
Head outside and over to our Celia Dayton Park, located on the corner of Franklin and Allen streets.
Celia Dayton Park is a quiet oasis in the middle of busy Spring Hill. Amenities in this cute park include benches, picnic tables, a charcoal grill, a swingset and a climbing boulder. It’s the perfect place to bring your kids for climbing and swinging, while you relax in the shade under the towering, decades-old trees.
Though it’s one of Spring Hill’s hidden gems, this park should not go unnoticed. It’s named after one of Spring Hill’s — and the state’s — notable residents, Celia Ann Dayton. Dayton was the first woman doctor in Kansas and moved to Spring Hill in 1859. Dayton also is said to have frequently aided African-American refugees and is reported to have been a part of the Underground Railroad.
