Trash rates will be adjusted, beginning with this month’s utility bill.
As a part of the City’s contract with L&K Services, regular trash rates will increase 33 cents to $16.44. Senior rates will increase 25 cents to $12.57.
The City contracts with L&K Services, which includes benefits such as  large item pickup once a month for residents in both Johnson and Miami counties, unlimited recycling with glass recycling available at Price Chopper, 22350 S. Harrison St., and yard waste pickup.
This is the first increase in trash rates since 2008. Residents will notice the adjustment on their bills, which will be in mailboxes this month.
