[ARCHIVED] Hometown Holidays to debut in new time slot

2016-12-03 Hometown Holidays 0288E

The annual event will debut in a new time slot — a Friday night in historic downtown Spring Hill. Hometown Holidays, a free and family-friendly event, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 to kick off the holiday season.
Simple and sweet, the Christmas event is scaled back this year due to the ongoing Civic Center revitalization, which is scheduled to be complete in early 2018.
Join us for a cup of hot cocoa, Christmas carols, the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree and photo opportunities with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

Join us as Citizen of the Year Cindy Squire lights the Mayor’s Christmas Tree to kick off the night. With carolers performing before the ceremony, Mayor Steven Ellis will address the crowd and then hand the show over to Squire to flip the switch, which illuminates downtown and the tree. The Mayor’s Christmas Tree will be set up in front of the Spring Hill Police Department, 418 E. Nichols St.

PHOTOS WITH SANTA

Santa Claus will make the special trip to Spring Hill to visit with children, listen to their Christmas wishes and take free photographs, sponsored by the Spring Hill Recreation Commission. Snag a photo to capture the Christmas memory of 2017. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be set up inside 112 S. Main St. for photographs.

CAROLERS

As you stroll through our historic downtown, listen for the sounds of Christmas with groups of carolers, who are set to perform throughout the event.

COOKIES AND HOT COCOA

Since the weather outside may be frightful (or delightful — it’s Kansas), we will have cookies and hot chocolate for all residents to enjoy. Stop by for a piping hot chocolate and a couple of cookies to keep that warm and fuzzy feeling rolling.
