The current chlorine residuals are being measured at approximately 3.0 ppm (very good residuals). They are not telling customers “not to use the water”. A boil order will not be issued in response to this line break situation. The Spring Hill Water Department is currently assisting RWD No. 7 by flushing the lines within the City.
MORNING POST: Although the break was outside of Spring Hill, we are getting residual customer complaints of discolored water, since our water travels through parts of RWD 7 transmission water mains before it gets to us; typically, water main breaks will stir up the water resulting in discolored water.
We have received calls from customers this morning about discolored water and Spring Hill Utilities Division staff began flushing fire hydrants on the south end of town that may be affected to attempt to flush the water distribution mains before discolored water gets to our customers; we are continuing this process this afternoon as well.
To assist in isolating and flushing the water distribution mains in affected areas, please contact public works (913)592-3317 with a specific address.
